Happy objects <3

The game

Hi there!! This is a game all about objects, places and spaces. Let’s create a space together. This space can be one you've been to before, one you've never been to, one you want to go to, or an imagined space completely from your dreams and ideas. Anywhere you feel safe, happy, calm, content, or anywhere you have a positive feeling about. You can fill it with whatever you like, pets, objects, plants, furniture, or nothing at all. Anything that makes you feel good, or you have memories about or made-up objects too. It’s up to you. To help you along the way, there are some handy cards full of prompts and questions for you to answer (you can print them off or draw in them digitally). You may choose to use them or not, it's all up to you. Feel free to draw your objects and write your answers onto the cards. And if you like your designs, go ahead and draw your objects into your room (otherwise known as "the board"). Then (this is the best bit), you can keep your room to remind you of all the things you love!! You could go back to it whenever you want, or (if you're feeling extra spicy) you can go ahead and print off the cards and board again and make a whole new room!! This game is just a prototype at the moment, but i would love to hear your thoughts on it, and if you like please feel free to send me pitcures of your creations and tell me all about them (i'd love to hear about them)!! There is also a handy handbook included to help guide you through the game if you would like it!!

In the spirit of sharing, here's my room that i created (i did mine digitally because i hate colouring in, buuuut you can do yours by hand or digitally if you like)!!!

The theory behind the game: 

Inspired by Sara Ahmed's understanding of Queer phenomeonology, and happy objects, this game uses the concept of spaces and objects to encourage and hopefully inspire players to explore and find their joy.  I bet you can guess where the name came from now (i'm so original!!). The idea is that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with contain their own feelings and can make us feel things. For example, right now i have some barbie and ken dolls dotted about my desk (yes, i did see the barbie movie and now i'm obsessed!!). These dolls make me feel joy, because to me they represent my connection and new found comfort with my feminimity. So, i surround my desk with these objects to remind me of my love for my femiminimity, and in return being around them makes me feel good. So, this game uses that idea to give players the opportunity to design their own spaces that make them feel good, full of objects that make them happy that they would like to surround themselves with.  

It should be known that the fabulous 8bit font i use in the game is called 8bit wonder and is made by Joiro Hatagaya!! Please check out their website for more of their fonts!!

TLDR:

Ultimately, i would just like this game to spread some joy and create a happy little thing for us Queer folk to celebrate ourselves and our ideas!!
